27. Sterling⁶ Tarpley (John⁵, John⁴, John³, John², John¹) was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia March 15, 1769. Sterling died 1848 in Wilson County, Tennessee, at 79 years of age.

He married Lucretia Pettypool in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, 1794. Lucretia was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia November 11, 1772. Lucretia died 1857 in Wilson County, Tennessee, at 84 years of age.

Sterling Tarpley and Lucretia Pettypool had the following children:

43 ii. Julia Baccus Benson Tarpley was born 18 APR. Julia died UNKNOWN. She married Mitchell Childress in Wilson County, Tennessee, August 12, 1835. Mitchell was born Tennessee UNKNOWN. 44 iii. Stith T. Tarpley was born 1795. Stith died BET. 1831-18 MAR 1842.

46 v. Frances Ann Tarpley was born 1799. Frances died BEF. 18 MAR 1842. She married Wilson Webb in Wilson County, Tennessee, November 21, 1816. Wilson was born in Sussex County, Virginia UNKNOWN. 47 vi. Caroline Tarpley was born February 25, 1806. Caroline died UNKNOWN. She married twice. She married Milner Walker in Wilson County, Tennessee, December 23, 1840. Milner was born UNKNOWN. Milner died September 29, 1849 in Wilson County, Tennessee. (See Milner Walker for the continuation of this line.) She married Henry B. Mooningham in Wilson County, Tennessee, February 19, 1852. Henry was born ABT. 1820. Henry died UNKNOWN.

Caroline applied for a marriage license to wed Milner Walker December 20, 1840.

49 viii. Seth Tarpley was born April 25, 1809. Seth died BEF. 18 MAR 1842.
