19. John⁵ Tarpley (John⁴, John³, John², John¹) was born in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia December 13, 1738. John died ABT. 1815 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.

He married twice. He married Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth was born ABT. 1740. Elizabeth died UNKNOWN. He married Elizabeth Smith Virginia, 1762. Elizabeth was born ABT. 1740. Elizabeth died UNKNOWN.

John Tarpley and Elizabeth Smith had the following children:

+ 25 i. Alexander⁶ Tarpley was born ABT. 1776.

26 ii. Thomas Tarpley was born UNKNOWN. Thomas died UNKNOWN. He married Elizabeth Abernathy UNKNOWN. Elizabeth was born UNKNOWN. Elizabeth died UNKNOWN.

+ 27 iii. Sterling Tarpley was born March 15, 1769.

28 iv. Sarah Susan Tarpley was born August 14, 1777. Sarah died November 14, 1863 at 86 years of age. She married twice. She married Felix Jones UNKNOWN. Felix was born UNKNOWN. Felix died UNKNOWN. She married Thomas Westmoreland in Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, Virginia, December 24, 1794. Thomas was born Virginia August 22, 1771. Thomas died February 2, 1815 at 43 years of age.

29 v. Caty Tarpley was born July 28, 1783. Caty died June 6, 1861 at 77 years of age. She married John Abernathy in Davidson County, Tennessee, June 12, 1810. John was born Virginia February 23, 1785. John died March 7, 1861 in Giles County, Tennessee, at 76 years of age. (See John Abernathy for the continuation of this line.)
