He married Mary E. Smith in Tazewell Co, VA, November 25, 1834. Mary was born in Tazewell Co, VA December 7, 1812. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Smith and Tabitha Asbury. Mary died February 22, 1899 in MO, at 86 years of age. Her body was interred in Smith Cemetery, Linn Co, MO.
Richard's will was probated in William B. SMITH administrator, BET. 2 MAR 1861-1864. Richard participated in the Misc event 1988 in Tombstone moved to Haseville C.
