He married Laura R. Hilderbrand in Keokuk County, Iowa, December 27, 1885. Laura was born in Iowa November 1868.

Elliot Edwin Utterback and Laura R. Hilderbrand had the following child:

8 i. Earl R.³ Utterback was born in Warren Twp., Keokuk, Iowa January 1887.
