He married Emmazella B. Gillispie in Sullivan Co, MO, ABT. 1867. Emmazella was born in Linn Co, MO March 28, 1854. Emmazella was the daughter of William H. Gillispie and Nancy H. Young. Emmazella died May 16, 1931 in Humphreys, MO, at 77 years of age. Her body was interred in Humphreys Cemetery, Humphreys, MO.

James S. Norvell and Emmazella B. Gillispie had the following children:

3 ii. Henryetta Norvell was born in MO April 1, 1871. Henryetta died January 9, 1877 in MO, at 5 years of age. Her body was interred in Smith Cemetery, Linn Co, MO.

4 iii. Mary E. Norvell was born in MO April 11, 1873. Mary died August 8, 1903 in Linn County, MO, at 30 years of age. Her body was interred in Haseville Cemetery, Linn co, MO. She married George Irvin Smith in Orlinda, Linn Co, MO, November 5, 1890. George was born in Monroe Co, IA December 18, 1867. George died February 17, 1928 in Kansas City, MO, at 60 years of age. 5 iv. Seth Norvell was born 1875. Seth died UNKNOWN.

+ 6 v. Fred A. Norvell was born October 11, 1876.

7 vi. Vira Ellen Norvell was born March 11, 1877. Vira died March 2, 1906 at 28 years of age. Her body was interred in Campground Cemetery. She married Samuel Dow Meeker December 25, 1891. Samuel died UNKNOWN. i0 Name from Helen Humphreys Leek as given to M.M. Riley

8 vii. Charles Wesley Norvell was born in MO November 1879. Charles died UNKNOWN in MO. His body was interred in Humphreys Cemetery, Humphreys, MO.
