1. Thomas J.¹ Gilstrap⁽¹³⁾ was born in Missouri January 1861.⁽¹⁴⁾ Thomas died March 12, 1942 in Hedrick, Keokuk, Iowa, at 81 years of age. His body was interred March 14, 1942 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steady Run Twp., Keokuk, Iowa.

He married Cordelia A. Tygart in Keokuk County, Iowa, April 27, 1893.⁽¹⁵⁾ Cordelia was born in Warren Twp., Keokuk, Iowa November 2, 1871. Cordelia⁽¹⁶⁾ was the daughter of Cyrus Tygart and Martha Lee Page. Cordelia died December 17, 1962 in Sigourney, Keokuk, Iowa, at 91 years of age. Her body was interred December 20, 1962 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steady Run Twp., Keokuk, Iowa.⁽¹⁷⁾

Thomas J. Gilstrap and Cordelia A. Tygart had the following children:

4 iii. Leroy Tygart Gilstrap (still alive).
