He married Maude Pearl Moore February 18, 1926. Maude was born in Dill City, OK June 17, 1902. Maude was the daughter of George Elza Moore and Mary Ellen Kelly. Maude died January 2, 1990 in Sentinel, Washita County, OK, at 87 years of age. Her body was interred in Sentinel, Washita County, OK.

John Wesley Powell and Maude Pearl Moore had the following children:

3 ii. Melba Lois Powell (living status unknown).

4 iii. LaNora Powell was born in Dill City, Washita County, OK November 9, 1939. LaNora died December 12, 1963 in Sentinel, Washita County, OK, at 24 years of age. Her body was interred in Sentinel, Washita County, OK. She married Paul Farris.
