- Hi and Welcome to the Catt
Family homepage!
- We are descendants of Michael Katz Sr. from Germany. Many forms
of our
- surname have been used over the years. Our family is very interesting in
background
- but as that is copyright material I will not use it on these pages.
- If you would like to know more you may contact me or purchase the
- book,
"The Catt Family in America, by Dr. Cary Anderson."
-
- As with all genealogy projects
this is a work in progress. Please don't take
- all of it as proven until I have
time to do so. If you find any corrections or
- additions please contact me! My
information comes from family members,
- census, wills, marriage and death
certificate's, books, etc. Some may be conjecture
- as they fit no where else in
the branches.
- More recently my ggg-grandparents
were Fort Scott, Bourbon County, KS pioneers.
- When the Civil War broke out
Harmon and Margaret moved their family to IA.
- They moved back after the war and
lived there the rest of there lives. The original
- homestead still stands and is
still lived in today. It is no longer owned by anyone
- in the Catt family.
- This research is dedicated to
my grandfather of whom I hardly remember as he
- died when I was only about two
years old. I have heard stories that his father called
- his mother Kitty. Her
name was Grace Bernice Catt. I guess the nickname due to
- Kitty Catt. Many family
members had nicknames as most families do.
- Kitty played the piano every Sunday
at her church even after going blind.
- She is said to have played the piano by
ear and not by the reading of music.
